Support Connected Community Innovations's Mission

OVERVIEW

Connected Community Innovations supports individuals who lack devices, internet access, or digital literacy by offering simple, practical, and culturally relevant tools that make it easier to reach essential services. Our approach centers dignity, clarity, and accessibility for people navigating crisis or unstable housing.

Collaborate on Digital Access Tools

Challenges We Address

People experiencing homelessness or crisis often face barriers such as:

  • No personal device or limited access to shared devices
  • Lack of mobile data or inconsistent Wi‑Fi
  • Low digital literacy or unfamiliarity with technology
  • Language, cultural, or literacy challenges
  • Stressful situations that make complex apps or websites difficult to use

These realities make access to critical services such as housing, food, health, safety significantly harder.

Our Approach

Connected Community Innovations designs systems that are simple, visual, and low‑barrier, including:

  • Printed guides designed for individuals with low literacy
  • Mobile‑friendly content for shared or borrowed devices
  • Kiosk access points across public spaces
  • Tools that support culturally diverse communities
  • Navigation flows optimized for people under stress

We focus on clarity, inclusivity, and trauma‑aware design.

Who This Supports

  • People without devices or data plans
  • Individuals using shared or temporary phones
  • Community members unfamiliar with technology
  • People needing quick, private access to essential services

Future Developments

CCI is preparing to expand this work by:

  • Designing more accessible printed and QR‑code navigation cards
  • Piloting community‑based digital literacy supports
  • Adding more public access points through kiosks
  • Partnering with libraries, shelters, and agencies
  • Testing simplified digital tools for low‑literacy users

Impact Goals

  • Reduce technology‑related barriers
  • Empower individuals to navigate services independently
  • Increase successful access to housing, food, health, and safety
  • Build community confidence with digital tools
  • Strengthen equity across underserved populations
